The National Museum of Music holds one of the Europe’s richest collections of musical instruments from the 16th to 21st centuries, with some pieces designated as “national treasures”. With its origins dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, the museum is now being relocated to the Royal Building of Mafra. This renewed museum leverages digital innovations to engage modern audiences, blending historical information with multimedia, interactive displays, and 3D reconstructions.
The National Museum of Music is located 34.5 km from Lisbon Airport, about 28 minutes by car and approximately one hour by public transport (metro + bus).
Airport Metro station: Red line (Alameda) > Green line (Campo Grande) €0,50 (card) + €1,47 (1 travel) + Campo Grande bus station: 2802 (Mafra Terminal) + 2803 (Ericeira Terminal) €4,50.
Taking an Uber from Lisbon Airport to Mafra will cost about €25. By public transport (metro + bus) it will cost about €6,50.
